Our Mission

You are a professional. But do you feel like one?

Virtually every profession has 3rd party certification to identify the true professionals. Did you know that there is an internationally recognized certification for house cleaning technicians? The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification or IICRC offers the House Cleaning Technician certification. The HCT curriculum was created by a committee of house cleaners, manufacturers, and industry consultants to raise the standards of the house cleaning industry.

The Residential Cleaning Academy is an IICRC approved school that offers the HCT course. Founded by Bruce Vance, who was one of the architects of the HCT program, the Residential Cleaning Academy offers HCT training nationwide. Look for a HCT course near you and become a true professional.

Become A True Professional

House cleaning is a much more specialized field than many people realize. House cleaners must know how to protect the health and and possessions of their clients. New challenges arrive daily. Likewise, new methods in process and productivity help to meet these challenges. Be equipped with the knowledge you need to make yourself the expert in your area.

Avoid Costly Damage

New surfaces in homes are just one of the challenges facing cleaners today. Many home surfaces today require specialized care. Arm yourself with valuable information so that you can take care of these surfaces without causing costly damage. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Rise Above Your Competition

Many people think that all it takes to be a cleaner is a few cleaning products and some clients. You know better. Give yourself a leg up by being more informed, more productive, more professional. There will always be people who will do the job cheaper. Make yourself worth every penny by being an IICRC certified House Cleaning Technician.

Become a consultant to your client, not just a laborer. Setting yourself apart in knowledge and awareness makes you a more valuable to your client. House Cleaning is a technical profession. You can be an asset, not a liability.

Stay at the forefront of a changing industry. Work smarter, not harder.

In 2007, the Association of Residential Cleaning Services International approached the IICRC about creating a certification for house cleaners. A committee made up of house cleaners, franchise owners, manufacturers, and industry consultants hammered out the curriculum from 2007 until 2011. Finally the certification was approved and the first class was taught in 2012. The committee revisited and updated the test between 2015 and 2018 to ensure that the information is up to date and that the House Cleaning Technician course remains relevant for years to come.
